What regular maintenance should I do on Mac

Hi,

I would like to know what basic maintenance is needed to keep my iMac happy and running smoothly. I've got Mac OS Hight Sierra 10.13.

What should I do daily, weekly, monthly, etc. ? I mean clean up, updates, etc.

Thank you

The mac OS has featured automatic maintenance scripts almost asl long as OSX has been in existence. Those scripts run daily, weekly, and monthly in the wee hours so the morning to deal with unneeded flies like logs, temp files, etc. It also defrags automatically. If the computer is turned off when the scripts should run, they run in the background after the next startup.

Do NOT fall for the fearware hype!

The automatic periodic scripts take care of whatever management system caches need. Most people think about browser caches as separate. Sometimes browser caches may need manual cleaning, but usually only if your browser starts acting up.

If you find a need to clear Safaris' cache, go to Safari Preferences > "Advanced" tab. At the bottom, check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar.":

Then you can find "Empty Caches" in the Develop menu:
