Empty trash mailbox in email on iPhone 11 ProMax

There is mail from 2014 in my gmail trash folder (mailbox). How do I get rid of it, besides just deleting one at a time?

Open Mail and go to your Trash.
Tap Edit in the upper-right corner, then tap Select All.
Tap Trash or Archive. If you only see Archive, touch and hold Archive to see other options like Trash Selected Messages.

Thanks for your answer. I tried your suggestions, but all I could see when I held Archive is "Archive all" or "Cancel". So touched and held Archive all, and the emails all disappeared! Does that mean they are achieved? and where is Archive? Does it take up space on my phone?
