Start up problems

At start up, I get the white screen, then the Apple logo, then the progress bar starts but only gets to about 1/4 completed when the Mac turns off. I tried several times with the same results. I tried to start in safe mode but got the same results. In internet recovery mode the spinning globe appears but never leads to the first aid page. Any suggestions?

Just boot into Recovery ⌘-R and then use Disk Utilities : First Aid on the boot drive name. If you get errors, run it again. Then reboot normally.
