why can’t I update my phone?
I would like to know why I can’t update my phone as I now can’t call people and text and my sister has epilepsy and need it for urgent calls

Since you cannot send or receive messages or phone calls it sounds like a network connection issue.
start by going to settings > general > reset > reset network settings.
That will restart your phone and reconnect to your network. Then try to call and send/receive text messages.
If you still can’t use messages or phone calls contact your phone/internet provider for assistance.
If you do get back on the network then try the update again
