iMessage reply to specific messages

You need to explain what it is that you are speaking about. When you receive a message in the message app, you can reply to that message. What are you trying to do and what is it doing that you are not expecting?

He is talking about the capability to reply to a specific message farther up in a conversation. I am familiar with this functionality in Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. It creates a link to the past message underneath the latest reply to it. I really need this functionality as well.
