Device Not Eligible for AppleCare message meaning

I attempted to put my serial number in for I can go about purchasing apple care and this message came up in red. " This device is not eligible for additional coverage. " Please advise.

I bought my MAC from a Best Buy back in March of 2019, however I forgot to buy AppleCare and I wish to do so now.

Hello randyran93 and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you're having an issue purchasing Apple Care for your Mac.

Buy an AppleCare plan - Apple Support

You should be able to buy the AppleCare Protection Plan for a Mac within a year of purchase. If you're not able to do that via the web interface, you'll need to work directly with Apple Support.

Were you thing of buying AppleCare or AppleCare+? In the article jeremy_v linked, the "plus" version has time limits."

AppleCare+ can be purchased within 60 days of your device purchase where available. In Japan, AppleCare+ can be purchased within 30 days of your device purchase. AppleCare Protection Plan can be purchased within 1 year of your Mac purchase where available.

Also I recommend you have a discussion with Best Buy as well if you cannot by the regular AppleCare.
