Keyboard has shifted on ipad

My keyboard on iPad has suddenly shifted to the top of emails and documents so that I cannot see what I’m typing can someone tell me how to reset this? I have tried turning iPad off and back on but this did not help!

It may be caused by a false detection from the iPad, whether you are placing it vertically or horizontally.

It may worth a try to lock the screen of the iPad ? You may do so by swiping down the Control Panel from the top right corner, and press on the icon that shows a lock and a clockwise arrow. When it is activated, the icon should turn red.

Hope this helps ~ !
