Anti Virus software

Hello Forum

So I have heard that having any anti- virus software on an apple OS can conflict with apple built in security software. so the way I comprehended this is essentially any other anti virus software can cause major vulnerabilities and any clean my mac product is just malware. can somebody clarify this for me please?
