Request a refund for iTunes gift card

inadvertently bought iTunes gift cards for my grandson to purchase a Apple Watch now being told these cannot be used to purchase at the Apple Store or online store. The card from DOESN’T say it’s an iTunes gift card just show the Apple Logo. This is deceptive and now I have $175 in iTunes gift cards that are basically worthless. Store I purchase will not take back or refund without receipt which I lost or trashed. Now what do I do. Neither me or my Grandson could ever use this much for iTunes music or apps. I am totally disgusted at this type of deceptive trade practice and I can’t even get a live person on Apple support phone to help me.
