Playing Garage Band in the background

Hey,

When my iPad (5th Gen) was on iOS 12, I was able to connect my iPad to a digital piano, run GarageBand in the background to play the instrument and use the Flow Key app to read the sheet music.

Since upgrading to iOS 13, GarageBand runs in the background for 3 to 5 minutes and then cuts out. I have the Garage Band app set to 'Run in Background' and 'Use with Music Apps'

Any ideas how to stop Garage Band from cutting out? Or is there a way for me to restore iOS 12 so I can use Garage Band in the background.
