Airpod audio not working

Has anyone else had an issue where you try and use the AirPods but for some reason the audio doesn’t work unless you have them in such a random passion. For my I can’t hear anything when I have them regularly in my ear so I have to move them around all over my ear even upside down sometimes and i can still barely hear it. I don’t really get why but it’s been like this for a month now thinking I should clean it or reset it but still nothing works I don’t know what to do about it :(
