Hi fiooh11,

Thanks for posting. I understand you have a MacBook Air that doesn't seem to power on when you press the Touch ID/power button.

This resource has a few suggestions that might help: How to turn your Mac on or off

"If your Mac doesn't turn on

If your Mac doesn't turn on, check your power connection, and if you're using a Mac notebook, make sure that its battery has some charge. You can also try holding down the power button for ten seconds, then pressing the power button again to see if the Mac turns on. Learn more about what to do if your Mac doesn't turn on."

If the suggestions above don't clear things up, try the troubleshooting steps in the resource titled If your Mac doesn't turn on or start up to see if that helps!

Kind regards.

Here is a link with more info about touchID

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207054

At the bottom of the page, you can read the following:

In some situations, you need to enter your password instead of using Touch ID:

  • If you've just restarted your Mac
  • If you've logged out of your user account
  • If your fingerprint isn't recognized five times in a row
  • If you haven't unlocked your Mac in more than 48 hours
  • If you've just enrolled or deleted fingerprints

If you still need help unlocking your Mac with Touch ID, follow these tips. Try again after each one:

  • Make sure that your fingers are clean and dry.
  • Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin might affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, or cooking.
  • Your finger should cover Touch ID completely. While Touch ID is scanning, don't press down or move your finger.
  • Try setting up a different fingerprint.
