Is cellular worth it for your Apple Watch

I’m thinking about getting an Apple Watch, but wondering what the low down is on cellular service for it. What does it get me? Do you think it’s worth it? How much are you paying per month to add it?

Is your iPhone glued to your hip so to speak? If so, then a GPS only model will do everything the cellular model will do because your iPhone will always be nearby. Where nearby can be in the bedroom while you are in the kitchen (assuming a reasonable sized 3-4 bedroom home).

A cellular model can leave the iPhone at home while you go for a walk, run, bike ride, etc... and still receive phone calls, messages, email, etc...

NOTE: A GPS model can leave the iPhone at home while exercising and it will track your exercise and transfer the data to your iPhone when you get back home.

What the Apple Watch GPS-only can do without an iPhone (there is information about the cellular model as well)

PS. I'm a GPS only use and my iPhone is always nearby, so I have been very happy with my GPS only version.

Only you can make that decision, for me it is $10 per month plus the usual array of fees and taxes. I am bad about leaving my iPhone at home (and once my favorite coffee shop) and I also dislike carrying my iPhone when I go for a walk at a nearby park and listen to Apple Music on my AirPods while I walk. For Bob this isn't a big deal. Everybody is different and you will have to make up your own mind.
