Stuck in Activation Lock loop

Hi guys,


My girlfriend used an iphone 6S for quite some time and when she decided to upgrade it, she appears to have reset her device without logging out of her icloud (as explained by her to the best of her abilities).


Long story short, the phone is stuck in Activation lock saying that the device is linked to an apple ID but when I enter it it says it is incorrect. There was never another apple ID associated with the device so I am for sure entering the correct credentials, as I am able to login to find my iphone, for instance with the same apple ID and password. The device cannot be seen in find my iphone under devices associated with this apple ID. Tried a few DYI repairs as seen on youtube but nothing seems to work. Can't connect to itunes for a factory reset as well.


Any help would be appreciated. Photo of the activation lock is attached (sorry about the busted screen protector).

If the device can't be seen in Find My Phone using that ID, that ID may not be the ID that is signed into the phone.


If necessary, if she is the original owner, have her take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.
