Hello, why is that if I have an audio file , lets say a voice memo on my desktop, and I want to play it when i click it, it will automatically imports to iTunes? Can I prevent it form doing this every-time i want to listen to an audio file?
iTunes is designed so that anything it plays gets immediately added to your iTunes library. If that is not what you want, change your default music player to QuickTime, using the procedure suggested by Sarah. QuickTime can play files with modifying your library.

When you open a file from your desktop, you can choose which app to open it within, and you can also permanently change the app used to open a file as well.
