clone an external hard drive I have a MacBook Pro 13". I can't upgrade from OS High Sierra 13.10.6 to Mojave because I use old software, so I installed Mojave on an old external thunderbolt hard drive. Moving my cloned Mac desktop to a MacBook using a usb I cloned my Mac desktop to a usb drive. I want to move that clone to a macbook. The clone is about 300GB. The macbook has a 1 TB drive that is formatted but empty. Can I boot with the USB clone and move it to the new blank 1TB HD and thereby establish the clone as the OS for the Macbook thereafter? Run http://www.bombich.com/ Carbon Copy Cloner to an external hard drive formatted HFS+/GUID if Platter, or APFS if solid state. Use Disk Utility to format the drive (this wipes the drive).
