Have you ever backed up your phone? If not back it up either to the cloud or to iTunes.

If the iOS on your phone is newer than the iOS on your iPad you will need to update your ipad (just set it up as new and do the update, don;t worry about putting any data on it, the operating systems just need to be compatible).

If you back the phone up to iCloud then, in that article linked, click on the iCloud icon and it will take you to instructions on how to set the new device up from an iCloud backup.
