WiFi only iPad group messages not always sending/receiving

I have a group text message with family. There is one person that does not have an iPhone. I have a WiFi only iPad and have trouble on occasion receiving the group text messages on my iPad. For instance, I was receiving the messages fine on my iPad up until Sunday. Now, I can’t receive any or send any from my iPad to this group text. I do/can send and receive from my iPhone.

I have not made any changes to either device. What gives? This is getting old.

Hello,

Please verify that Messages is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad in Settings > Tap your account > iCloud.

Please verify that iMessage is enabled on your iPhone and iPad in Settings > Messages.

Please verify that Text Message forwarding is enabled on your iPhone in Settings > Messages.

ok. So I’ll be honest, I rolled my eyes when I read this. I was able to send/receive messages on both the other day and I do not make changes to my settings ever. I did go through each one you listed.

#3 was the culprit. Somehow it was turned off. 🤬🤬. Mind you, I do not change anything once it’s set. So how does it turn itself off?

Thank you for your help.
