MIDI controller (MP128 MIDI buddy Pedal) not "learning" in MainStage, Help!

Hi! I just bought an MP128 Midi Buddy Controller and have it directly connected to my macbook via a USB Uno 1X1 Midi Interface. When I go into MainStage, I can press buttons on the controller and MainStage recognizes it in the little Midi activity bar (in between CPU and Memory), however, no matter if I manually try to set up the hardware input or "learn" it, nothing happens. theres only two buttons that do work with the "learn" feature, and they are program "00" and program "129", both of which are talked about in the MP128 instructions. here is a segment from the instructions of the Mp128:

OPERATION
+The MP128 follows MIDI standard protocol, and will change programs on any MIDI controllable device. The controlled device and the MP128 must be on the same MIDI channel (see chart - next page), or the device should be on an "omni" channel.+
+The unit sends up to ten different program changes, in twelves different banks. Bank 0 sends program changes 1 - 9 (there is no program change 0), bank 1 sends program changes 10 - 19, bank 2 sends program changes 20 - 29, etc. The LED display on the MIDIBUDDY shows the MIDI program number (0 - 127, or+
+1 - 128 depending on the setting of DIP switch # 6). As the 10s Up or Down are scrolled through, the unit increments or decrements through banks 0 through 120. The ones digit is selected by switches 0 - 9. MIDI data is sent only when a 1 - 9 button is selected except as described below. The display will show a "-" in the right hand digit when no MIDI information is sent,or when a 10's UP or DOWN button is pressed.+
+For example; to send program 47, press the 10s UP or 10s DOWN until the display reads "4-" then press the 7 button. When the 7 button is pressed, program 47 is sent out and the number is displayed by the LED readout.+

+MIDI Start and Stop Commands+
+When program "00" is selected, the MP128 display shows an "ST" (which looks more like an Sr), and sends a MIDI start command. This may be used to start a MIDI sequencer. When program "129" is selected, an "SP" is displayed and a MIDI Stop command is sent.+

... any help would be greatly appreciated, i'm completely confused and frustrated! :P

Fortunately, you have plenty of choice...so consider your budget, how rugged you need it, and functionality.

On the high end of price, functionality, and build you could go for the Liquid Foot, Gordius, or DMC Ground Control. For combination of value and performance, I would suggest the Behringer FCB1010...I've posted lots of videos on YouTube using it with Mainstage...so it's a proven solution. Just go to YT and search for jasthemusicman if you want to see it in action.

CCT made a great recommendation when it comes to the FC300...which reminded me, if you want that same Roland case and build quality at a lower cost, a creative alternative is to pick up an old used Boss GT-3 or 5, it has the same build and has all the MIDI functionality in terms of PC's and CC's with onboard vol or expression pedal ...and hey, you can use the onboard amp and effect sims as a bonus standalone analog option or as a practice tool 😉 You can pick them up for about 60-75 bucks.
