how do i move my imove library from an iMac to a new macbook pro

The classic way to move an iMovie library from one Mac to another is to drag it from Mac #1 to an external drive that is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then you plug the external drive into Mac #2 and drag the library to your Movies folder on Mac #2. If you need to reformat your external to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with the Disk Utility app on your Mac, be aware that reformatting will erase all data on the drive, so first back up elsewhere. Also, both computers should be running the same exact version of iMovie 10. Otherwise when you open iMovie with the newer version you library will update and your projects may not open with the older version.
