That would be correct, I'd recommend an upgrade then and using the old Apple TV on another TV at your home. This is what I did with my old ATV's. The Apple TV 4 & 4K models are much much more capable than the older technology as they have apps stores so you can select the additional programming you want. While you may have a Smart TV that does the same thing, I've found the experience of using the new ATV's are a much much better experience than using a Smart TV and there is more content available.
