Unable to import photos

I have an iPhone, an iPad, and a new Windows 10 PC. I can import photos from my iPad no problem using the Windows Photos app. However, I am unable to import photos from my iPhone. The app crashes, hangs, or fails partway through the import process. Most of the time, it simply can't find the photos on the phone and freezes, or finds one item and stops, and tells me there was a problem reaching my device and my pictures may not have been imported. I have restarted the app, my phone, and the computer several times. I have also tried copying the photos from the iPhone to a folder on my computer using Windows Explorer and have experienced similar difficulties. The copying will halt a short ways in. I have instructed the iPhone to trust this computer multiple times. While I can usually see the photos folders on the phone using Windows explorer, importing or copying still won't work.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks for any suggestions. If you need more information, please ask.

Hello tigerdg,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to import pictures from your iPhone to your Windows computer, but you don't have this issue with your iPad. To help with this, please follow the relevant steps in this Apple resource on importing issues, and then contact Apple if you need any further assistance.
