user folder

Have just upgrade to Catalina on my iMac.

Now GIMP can't see any folders in the Finder other than the Favorites. - these are

  • AirDrop
  • Recents
  • Applications
  • Desktop
  • Downloads
  • Documents

I have reinstalled GIMP [and upgraded to the new stable version 2.10]

  1. I need to reinstall my brushes etc BUT I can't find the Users Folder
  2. I can't see anything other than the Applications>GIMP-2.10. ie I can see nothing inside the app

So my problem is:

  1. no Users Folder.
  2. Everything is invisible inside some of the folders
  3. GIMP does not appear in the Libraries folder [when I can find it] So how do I make this appear?

DO you have an idea of what is going on with this???

Here I thought we had this solved.

Verify your preference settings—

>System Preferences>Security&Privacy>Privacy>Full Disk Access>GIMP

Other than that, I don't have any idea what Documents you expect to see.

The Finder issue is resolved.
I still get an error using GIMP .....

naturally I keep the files I am working on in my Documents Folder

When I start GIMP, and try to access any image files I get an error message:
Could not read the contents of Documents
Operation not permitted
OK button

What about if you drag and drop one of your pics from the Folder to the GIMP icon on the Dock?

What about if you drag one of your pics you are working on to the Desktop first, then to GIMP?

I am out of ideas in an effort to help you with your third party app.

There are many other photos applications options beside GIMP if it is not working for you.

Thanks for helping me LeroyD

just to be clear: With GIMP - Can't see the sub-folders in Documents even though have selected All Files

Does the same error if I try to access pictures folder, Desktop folder

But can see the folders in Admin but once I opt to Documents folder in the chain...same error message.

Have actually been using macs for years - this is the first time I have encountered something like this
