2nd hand nano - 4th gen

hi

I've bought a 2nd hand 4th gen nano which still had all the previous owners songs and details registered. I did a factory reset and can now see all my pc albums in itunes window but nothing on my ipod. I'm assuming I don't have automatic sync set..can anyone please tell me if thats what I need to do and if so how do I do it?

...and what are opinions about auto sync??
