How to stop FileVault decryption in progress?

How can I stop a FileVault decryption that is in progress?

The reason for this question is that on reboot my macbook air never asked me for a password but only gives me an option to stop FileVault??? Its now decrypting the disk which I don't seem to be able to stop. 15 hours left to decrypt.

MacBook Air 11", macOS 10.15

If you stop it, then the drive is no longer accessible until you reformat it. You will lose everything on the drive unless you have a current backup.

The only way to stop the operation is to force a shutdown by pressing and holding down the Power button until the computer shuts down.
