Hi ubernaut,
If you just put your computor to sleep I doubt you would see this warning. When you shut it down you are in essence quitting the program.
I am wondering what Language and Region you are using in System preferences. If it is different than English (US) that may be the reason for the warning.
You could try adding English (US) to preferred languages or simply using English (US) only. I don't know if having 2 preferred languages would complicate your life in other ways. But it looks like you would be able to switch between 2

fwiw upgrading to Catalina seems to have fixed this issue. :P
One would be to avoid closing the document. I know thats not the same as disabling. You can post feedback to Apple using the Numbers menu item "Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback"
i think after about a day of usage it's a good idea to restart it anyway, but im old fashioned i just shut it down at the end of the day. my localization is set to us so im not sure why it feels it needs to warn me that im using my own format. :P but thanks for your input. :)
well I'm not really closing these document i leave them open but every day i and restarting my computer so they open with those warnings.
Are these for documents set for collaboration with others? If so the warning may not be completely "pointless".
