Can you record a video playing on your imac screen?

Is there a way to record video right from the iMac screen? I want to some instructions for my mom on how to do some simple stuff on her computer.

iMac 21.5" 4K, macOS 10.14

Hello,

You can use QuickTime Player to record part of the screen, however the audio setting usually has the microphone checked by default and will also capture everything in the room.

Certain websites like Hulu and Netflix will stop working when you begin to capture a video.
