Is there a way to change the Airdrop receiving location on macos to other than the Download folder?

AirDrop is a small application that is embedded inside the Finder.

(it is located in /Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Applications)

It has no separate preferences, and as far as I can tell no way to have it redirect files to a different location.

What you could do is add a Folder Action to the Downloads folder.

This can be tricky, because you probably want to move only the files that got there using AirDrop but not, say, Safari downloads.


I found this website with an Applescript that may be able to do this, but ***I HAVEN'T TESTED THIS***.

You should only proceed if you are sure you fully understand the instructions.

A safer alternative may be to just sort the Downloads folder by Added Date, so you will have the recent files right at the top for your picking.
