Apple watch series 1 is dead, won't charge or turn on just apple flashes on charger

Apple watch Series 1 has not been charged for a while and when I tried charging it for a few hours just the apple flashes, I can't even do a hard reboot. What could be wrong? It doesn't show it's charging even with the original charger.

Thanks for the response, I've tried all that and it doesn't show it's charging only the apple flashes. I think it's the battery, haven't charged it in about a year.?
