Buying used Apple devices

I got an Apple device from someone else who also gave me the receipt with his name on it. Do I need to get any transfer letter or such so I can use the receipt in case I need to have my device repaired or anything else or I just keep the receipt as it is? P.s it is an individual buyer and direct purchase

Aside from the receipt, you should always make sure that the seller prepared the device properly because Apple devices are tied to the Apple ID they were first registered with wich would not allow you to download apps, upgrade the OS, etc.
