Report a 'Found' Lost Airpod (Second Generation)

I have found a left side AirPod (second generation) on the street and I hope I can help the owner to locate the AirPod.

Can I put that 'found' AirPod in another second generation AirPods case and use that to send it's location to the associated AppleID that matches the AirPods so the owner can get the 'found' AirPods' location?

Or at least, can I find out the serial number of this missing AirPod somehow in some software (I tried lsusb / System Information in Mac and didn't find much in Xcode nethier) as the print on the case of the AirPods faded.

If I can at least get the serial number, I can circulate that in some local lost and found groups.

you can't do anything apart from turning it over to the police or a lost and found place
