Use "Manage your Apple ID":

Go To: https://appleid.apple.com/, click edit, and then modify it there.

Is Two-factor Authentication Enabled? If so, either

• Use Another Device you have, associated to your device. or...
• Contact Apple. Have the Apple Rep on the Phone modify the phone number for you to what it should be. If this is temporary, then just call Apple back and have them modify the phone number back to what it should be, once you gather access to the phone number it should be.

• Proceed from there as necessary.
