Battery health problems and deteriorated by 24% in just two weeks - why?!!!!!

My iPhone SE is running 11.4.1 and I had a new battery installed about one year ago.

Two weeks before moving house and being vigilant with my usage as I was unable to charge it for a couple of days I checked the battery health which was 87%

live checked it probably monthly and it went down in the last 6-8 months gradually.

I noticed today and yesterday that it had drained quickly so I’ve just checked and it’s now 63% and it says it’s significantly degraded and still at peak performance!

Why all of a sudden has this happened when it has barely been used due to moving, unpacking etc!?

The reason I didn’t update the iOS to 12 was because the shop where I bought the phone from told me not to as it would drain battery. So I listened and didn’t do so. Should I update to the latest iOS now, will it make a difference? Although I don’t yet have computer set up to do a back up yet?

Advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

The Battery Health indicator is, at best, an estimate. It drops, it can rise and the progression is not linear. While it is unusual for a battery to only last one year, it's not outside of the ordinary.

Was the shop who sold you the phone the one where you go the battery changed? Are they an Authorized Apple Service Provider? I suspect they are not as they gave you bad advice about updating your phone.

You do not need a computer to back up your phone. You can use iCloud.
