FCPX 10.4.8 - export file issues

Osx 10.14.6 fcpx 10.4.8.

I found two ways to export that project.

First is export an xml from 10.4.8, open it in 10.4.6 and the export went through.

Second is convert the original xdcam mxf-s to prores, relink in 10.4.8 and export is went through.

But this is weird, because the original mxf's is ok, no frame drop or other issue on it.

WORKAROUND for FCP 10.4.8 export issue successful.

I exported the xml from FCP 10.4.8

I imported the xml into FCP 10.4.6

I exported the project. It completed perfectly.

This workaround means, if you updated your libraries to 10.4.8, they will not open in 10.4.6, but it does enable you to output the final file.

This sounds like a corrupt Render file issue.

Try deleting the Project Render files.

Select the Project icon in the Browser then use the File>Delete Generated Project Files command:

Did you try optimizing the media? It seems to have been the accepted workaround.

Also, 10.15.3 has just been released and it seems to have helped.

Luis, I tried optimizing 100 percent of clips per your suggestion. No luck. FCP X 10.4.8 still hangs up during the export on OS X 10.15.3

My workaround is exporting 10 second to 2 minute clips at a time. There's no way to tell what sections will get hung up, so I just make the run time of the clips shorter and shorter until they export without hanging up.

It's not a perfect workaround as there are 3 second sections that won't export at all.

I'm now exporting my almost 12 minute timeline section by section. When a section gets hung up on export, I force quit, and shorten the amount I'm exporting. The successful exports are here, and are the elapsed time, so 23016_24112 is 02:30.16 to 02:41.12 (11 seconds of the timeline exported)

Less, Based on your note, I’m betting the failures started October 7, 2019.

Before that, FCPX 10.4.6 was the version in use.

i bet if i rolled back two versions to 10.4.6, that it’ll fix my export hang up issue.

Can you post a screenshot of that problematic section of the Timeline?

I'd step through a frame at time to see if there are any gaps or other oddities.

Also check that the file name has no unfriendly characters in it.

One thing I do not think has been discussed is the formatting of the the destination drive.

Do you know what this is?

Mac OS extended is correct for Spinning drives and APFS for SSD drives.

Leave NTFS alone.

My thought revolved around wrong formatting limiting the export drive size.

Formatting as above have no limits.

We can eliminate this as the culprit.

I run Catalina and the latest FCP X and have no issue with exports.

There will be most likely a little "gremlin" on your system laughing at us all. 😀​

Considering there are a number of people with this issue, and a couple of us have this issue on all our Macs, it is not just a one person local bug.

Thanks for the idea Al. I gave your suggestion a shot, but, no dice. It still hangs up. My next step is hopefully to reinstall the previous version of FCPX, 10.4.7

Same here. Four cameras Multicam file, export stuck on same point, I was try to export several iMacs, same result. It's very frustrating, cannot revert to previous fcpx versions and my deadline is pretty close.
