I want to purchase a song that is in My Apple Music Library.

I still use my iPods because I don't always have streaming capability in my RV. I want to purchase a song that I have downloaded in Apple Music. In the iTunes Store it says "play" where the purchase button is. What do I have to do so that I can purchase an individual song in iTunes so it will play on my iPods? TIA

iPod Classic

Hey romaynefromel dorado,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

It looks like you want to buy a song from the iTunes Store to sync to an iPod device that doesn't support Apple Music. Is that right?

If so, make sure to follow these steps from Add and download music from Apple Music or the iTunes Store:

"Buy music from the iTunes Store

If you don't subscribe to Apple Music or want to buy a song, you can purchase music from the iTunes Store. Follow the steps below for your device.

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, open the iTunes Store app, tap Music, find music, then tap the price to buy it.
  • On your Mac, open the Music app, click iTunes Store in the sidebar, find music, then click the Buy price.
  • On your PC, open iTunes for Windows, choose Music from the pop-up menu, then click Store in the navigation bar. Find music, then click the Buy price.

After you tap or click Buy, you might be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID to complete the purchase."

Additionally, you can download songs from Apple Music or iTunes Store for offline play on your devices using Apple Music:

"Download music to your device

You can download music that you added from the Apple Music catalog or purchased from the iTunes Store to your device so you can listen to it offline.

Just find the song, album, or playlist that you want to download to your device, then tap or click . On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, when you download an entire album or playlist, changes to DOWNLOADED when the download is complete."

Thanks again, and have a great day!

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me. Any songs downloaded thru my Music Account don't transfer to my Ipod. When I try to purchase a song (that has previously been down loaded via Music) it shows as Play in the itunes store and therefore won't let me purchase it.

My suggestion would be that the Itunes store add an option in the drop down menu (where the price usually is but says Play if you've downloaded the song via Music) that adds the option of purchasing the song. I guess the other option is that I undownload the song on music and then purchase it....but then i lose it in downloaded playlists.. I realize apple doesn't support IPODS anymore, but I have 4 of them that I still anticipate using for awhile and would appreciate the flexibility to still buy music for it without losing a song or playlist on my iphone or Ipad...neither of which have the same memory that my IPOD classics do.

Thanks.
