Word multiple documents

how do you stop word from opening multiple documents every time you use it.

Hold down the Shift Key as you start Word. Keep holding until the new blank document opens.


If those old documents show up in the Recovery pane, close them. Then go to Word > Preferences > General and unmark the check box that is labeled "Track Recently Opened..." and then Close and Quit Word completely.


Now do a full power down and then start up your computer again.


When you then restart Word has the problem been cleared?
