I’m disappointed especially now when Christmas is coming I see this as an opportunity missed

You can gift the App Store gift card and the person can use this balance to pay for the subscription. Note that App Store gift cards valid in a country of purchase. For example, a gift card bought in the US App Store cannot be redeemed at the Canadian App Store.
