So I have two MacBooks and started the “migration assistant last night.” 12 hours later both machines are still “in process” which is ridiculously long.
I don’t have games on it; just my work.
Can I cancel it “midstream” and most importantly will my documents be saved????

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble with Migration Assistant. I’m happy to help.
You should be able to cancel Migration Assistant and start over without issue, as your documents should stay on the old Mac.

The fastest and surest way to Migrate is from your Time Machine backup disk. You can stop the migration and then restart it, without it duplicating any previously transferred files.
