Update badge showing for macOS Catalina?

Hi. I'm running macOS Mojave on a 15" MacBook Pro. I regularly check for and apply Security and software updates, and am glad for badge reminders for those. However, even after applying those updates, I still see a badge reminder, and I see the only update offered is macOS Catalina. Is there a way I can ask my Mac to ignore this particular offering (and clear the red badge) while still keeping me advised of other critical updates?

Mark the update as ignored, from a command line Terminal.app session.

sudo softwareupdate --ignore "macOS Catalina"

Run a web search for details on that command-line command, if you’re interested.

Thank you MrHoffman, this removed it from my preferences so that now "my Mac is up to date" but the red #1 badge still shows. I reset the dock (sudo killall Dock) and even rebooted the Mac, but it still shows. Other posts I've seen say I can disable it but it would also not show when other critical updates are available, also that it might re-appear every time I check for updates. In any case, thank you. This answered my question for now. Regards, Brandon
