hdmi to dual hdmi cable - for samsung tv & apple tv hook up

Trying to hook up my boss' new Apple TV unit.

Her Samsung TV already has it's 2 HDMI ports used, thus I want to get an HDMI adapter for a dual HDMI? Which one should I use to support this? I see some adapters that say "will not work w/ apple tv".

My boss already has a cable box and cd player using the 2 HDMI ports in back of Samsung TV

The USB port is not in use on Samsung TV - option to get USB to HDMI cable?

  • Those HDMI splitters work one way direction, to get a signal from one source to two screens (identical picture). It is not a solution to your question.
  • The USB port on the TV is not a substitute for HDMI. The Apple TV needs HDMI-to-HDMI. It is not a solution to your question.
  • The obvious option is to disconnect the CD player. Then get an Apple Music subscription and never use compact discs in that room again.
  • An ‘HDMI switch’ would do the reverse of a splitter, allowing to select one of several sources to one output. Get a 4K switch for HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 compatibility if needed.
  • For superior audio, use an AV receiver in between the TV screen and the other HDMI devices. Modern AV receivers have plenty of HDMI ports for input.

Regarding "The obvious option is to disconnect the CD player. Then get an Apple Music subscription and never use compact discs in that room again." ... very funny.

So I will research those two solutions - can you show me the actual products regarding:

⚫An ‘HDMI switch’ would do the reverse of a splitter, allowing to select one of several sources to one output. Get a 4K switch for HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 compatibility if needed.

⚫For superior audio, use an AV receiver in between the TV screen and the other HDMI devices. Modern AV receivers have plenty of HDMI ports for input.
