I have been trying to upgrade the version from 10.11.6 to 10.15.2 but I'm having a fail result. Macbook(13-inch, late 2009)

Graphics NVDIA Geforce 9400M 256 MB

If it is a late 2009 MacBook then according to the following link you should be able to upgrade to High Sierra.
In a 2009 machine, Catalina wouldn't go. I think you need late 2012 and up
