Hello,
You can show the Dock when using a physical keyboard by simultaneously pressing ⌥ (Option) + ⌘ (Command) + D. This keyboard combination can be tricky to press. I personally will use my thumb to simultaneously press ⌥ ⌘ and use my middle finger to press D.
