Getting a hard drive back

I think I permanently deleted the hard drive (vs just erase) on my MacBook Pro. I tried reinstalling the OS but there is no drive to put it on. How do I get the drive back?

What exact Mac is this?

From the Internet Recovery (option Command R) or from a TM backup (option boot) or a USB bootable installer you can get to Disk Utility >View >Show all Devices you may well have to erase/format the parent drive.

Once re-formated ( earasing/loosing all data in the process) you quit the Disk Utility, then from this same Recovery you can reinstall the macOS, or restore from a Time Machine backup.
