I just saved a recipe in pages. Why can’t I open it?

Considering several similar posts in the time since Catalina was released, this appears to be a widespread issue.
One suggestion that has received several "This worked" replies has been:
- Quit Pages (or Numbers if you see the issue with that application).
- Restart your Mac.
- Reopen Pages / Numbers
- Repeat the attempt to open the file.
