What is best way to repair permissions on Catalina ?
No idea why, but they have got screwed up, and I cannot set RWX permissions using "Get Info", Message says I do not have privileges
I am running
diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`
Seems to be taking forever !
Macbook Pro, mid 2014, 15" Retina, 480Gb SDD, 16GB RAM,
Catalina 10.15.2

Where are you trying to change those permissions.
Many areas of the OS cannot be modified.
The permissions repair only affects your home folder.

Barney, Thanks for your reply. I was trying to repair permissions in my home folder. I could not access my files.
I decided to re-install Mac OS, that has worked a beaut, everything now running as should. Cheers
