hi just got a question.
i recently bought a iphone xs max in china and brought it back to canada.
can i use it in canada or do i need to have it unlocked or revised / updated by apple store in north america first?

If the iPhone is currently locked to a Chinese carrier, you will need to reach out to that carrier to have the device unlocked. You can see more details for unlocking your iPhone from the following article: How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier - Apple Support
If it is unlocked, you should only need to pop in a SIM and follow standard activation steps (Set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch). Additionally, parts and service may not be available for this device at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
