Battery health

Hello! So i just got the iphone xr and i wanna ask do i have to let it completely drain so it shuts down and than charge it back to a 100 or not? How do i keep battery health?

all batteries deteriorate over time


completely draining it is a bad idea that harm the battery


you can slow their demise a but try reading

No, Tereza, that's not a good practice with modern Li-Ion batteries.

Battery health is measured in charging cycles:

1 cycle = from 0 to 100%

1/2 cycle = from 50 to 100%

1/4 cycle = from 75 to 100%.. and so on.

IPhones batteries can support about 500 cycles. Charge it whenever you want.

Since 2008, when I bought my first iPhone 3g, I charge my iphone overnight, everynight (no way to overcharge the battery, since, when it reaches 100%, the iPhone automatically stops charging). The only precaution I suggest is: when possible, do not let the battery level go down below 20%.

My batteries have always lasted at least 2.5-3 years.
