Settings Question

I updated my iPad last week. The next morning I noticed a “red 1” on the settings and I can’t figure out what the problem is. I have plenty of memory, etc. I’ve shut it down and looked at settings carefully. But, I still can’t figure out what the issue is.

After an update, if a numeric badge appears on the Settings App icon, it is usually a prompt to indicate that a feature (such as Fingerprints or Wallet) still need to be set-up - the number in the badge indicates the number of items that need to be resolved.

To clear the badge, it is usually a simple action of opening the Settings App - and somewhere in the left-hard settings pane (scrolling up or down as needed) you will find a visible indicator as to which item needs attention. Opening the specific item is usually sufficient to clear the item. On rare occasion, an erroneous badge can be cleared with a forced-restart of the device.

Sorry, I can’t simulate and grab a screenshot to illustrate this - as this indication only generally appears after a major update or when setting-up a device as new.

I hope you find this helpful in guiding you to the offending setting(s).

Hello,

Try resetting iPad's settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Be certain you do not select Erase All Content and Settings as this will erase all of your information. It is a good idea to perform a backup of your iPad prior to resetting its settings.
