FaceTime camera disabled while using Apple CarPlay

Why did Apple disable the FaceTime camera (while driving) using Apple CarPlay? I am bothered that the option was taken away from me. Although I know it is looked at as a safety issue (looking at your phone while driving), I do not agree with totally removing my option to choose. Texting while driving is a major issue in the US, but Apple didn’t remove the option to do so. Instead, we were given options like: (a) Do Not Disturb (b) voice text.

I would really like some assistance with this. Or at least Apple’s reasoning behind this. I called Apple Support two weeks ago an none of the reps knew this was an issue, that the option was removed with 13.2, and did not know how to address the situation.

I saw a similar post on reddit right after I faced it: https://www.reddit.com/r/CarPlay/comments/dozjrr/facetime_while_using_car_play_died_with_ios_132/

The weird fact is that the opposite person (who is not driving) doesn't see you, but you still can. I call my mom, when I am driving and I don't look at the screen for obvious reasons, and she enjoys watching my black screen :)

In rare cases something might happen with iPhone, and it starts showing your video during driving. This scares me a lot, because now it is not normal, and the quick fix is unplug-and-plug the phone during driving. You know, this is a safe solution and doesn't distract me during the driving according to engineering thoughts.

Apple takes care about my safety.
