Numbers on my Mac Air

When I open Excel files on my Mac Air it started to open them in Numbers. I have tried to convert them to open in Excel by using "Get Info", but I do not have Excel in my applications to click open with or change all. Only Numbers, Preview, and Archive Tool, are listed. Is there a way to change this back to always open in Excel?

I have tried that, however as stated I do not have Excel on my computer and therefore the option to select Excel is not listed. I have just realized that when I open emailed Word Documents they now open in Pages. I get the same response when trying to open them in the Word format. There has to be a way to convert this back to being able to view documents in the format they are sent?

"back to" implies that you were, at one time, opening Excel files in Excel on this computer.

If so, Wayne's suggestions should work, assuming that you still have Excel installed, and that it is a new enough version to run in your current operating system.

If that is NOT the case, Step 1 would be to install Excel on your computer, or buy a subscription to Office 365, which includes the online versions of Excel and Word.

A close substitute would be to install LibreOffice and use that to open Excel (and Word) documents.
